Iran Asks India to Build Cricket Stadium in Chabahar
New Delhi, July 16 - Iran has asked India to help build a cricket stadium in Chabahar. The request was made by Asghar Ali Raeisi, the coach of the Iran under-19 cricket team.
Raeisi said that Iran has the talent to play good cricket internationally, but they lack the infrastructure to train their players. He hopes that India will help them to build a stadium so that Iranian players can "prove their mettle in the world."
The Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone (CFZ) has reserved 40 hectares for a sports village, out of which 10 hectares have been allotted for the cricket stadium. The stadium is expected to have a seating capacity of 4,000.
The request for India's help comes at a time when Iran is under US sanctions. These sanctions have made it difficult for Iran to import the materials and equipment needed to build the stadium. India, on the other hand, is not subject to these sanctions.
It is not yet clear whether India will agree to help Iran build the stadium. However, the request is a sign of the growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of cricket.
"We have a lot of talented cricketers in Iran," Raeisi said. "But we don't have the infrastructure to train them properly. We need a good stadium so that our players can practice and compete at the highest level."
The proposed stadium would be a major boost for cricket in Iran. It would provide a world-class venue for international matches and would help to raise the profile of the sport in the country.
"We hope that India will help us to build this stadium," Raeisi said. "It would be a great gesture of friendship and cooperation between our two countries."
The request for India's help has been welcomed by the Indian cricket community.
"This is a great opportunity for India to help promote cricket in Iran," said Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team. "It would be a win-win situation for both countries."
The proposed stadium would be a major step forward for cricket in Iran. It would provide a much-needed boost for the sport and would help to raise the profile of cricket in the country. It is hoped that India will agree to help Iran build the stadium, which would be a gesture of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
